The essential matter of civilization is to make sure that we don’t starve. The 5- color bird brought 5 types of grains. Then Lord Shenong started the civilization of descendants from the 2 Emperors. For the past 5000 years, we symbolized sun and moon, grass and field, rain and water, birds and trees, to create our written language. We are hereby a nation that wrote the entire civilization based on agriculture. A branch of this nation crossed the black strait 2 hundreds some years ago and came to Taiwan. We continued farming and rice-eating, and continued the dialogues with the land.
Sometimes the earth may crack and the river may flood. But the soil continues to be built. People start a fire and sit around it to cook and rice and drink and celebrate! In Mother Nature’s movements, the sun shines and the land absorbs. Life becomes food and energy, and comes back to the land to form a giant circle. Then there is a spoon of love, a spoon of mercy, a spoon of thankfulness and a bowl of graciousness. Food and drink give us strength and ask us to believe in the land!
With simplicity and sincerity, Greeinhand launches an independent exhibition for the first time in 8 years. We present only one of Taiwan’s still-beautiful beings, and exhibit one reason to treasure the life itself, which everyone always realized. Along the way, we see for you the sceneries in the past eight years. We invite you to experience yourselves the food and drink of the past one thousand years. With ordinary hands holding ordinary rice, we urge you to rediscover from the bottom of the rice bowl the fundamental value of our culture and civilization.
Rice and life, we are fine. We’re sure that you are, too.
